On 10th September the Estonian Asphalt Pavement Association and SP Sveriges Tekniska Forskningsinstitut concluded a contract to carry out a study titled Timber bridge solutions in Nordic countries and scientific analysis of the durability of different constructive solutions with proposals for implementation in Estonia.
The aim of the study is to map experiences gained in the design and construction of timber bridges in Nordic and Baltic countries, to find new options for increasing the use of timber as a local material in bridge construction, to assist the Cluster members in promoting product development, and to create premises for enhancing the companies’ capability in the field of bridge design and construction.
The study will be carried out in cooperation with the Road Cluster’s bridge working group and will be completed by February 2015.
The study will be supported by Enterprise Estonia and the European Regional Development Fund.
